Shootout: Two robbers killed in encounter

The family raised a hue and cry, upon which neighbours gathered outside and called the police.

KARACHI:

Two suspects were killed during an alleged encounter with the police in Muzaffarabad Colony within the limits of Quaidabad police station late on Saturday night.

Police officials said that at least two men entered a house owned by Aurangzeb and held the residents hostage while looting their cash and other valuables. The family raised a hue and cry, upon which neighbours gathered outside and called the police.

SHO Amanullah Marwat said that the police reached the site and asked the robbers to surrender. However, the suspects tried to escape under cover of fire and were killed when the police returned fire. Their bodies were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre and later shifted to the Edhi morgue in Sohrab Goth, where they were identified as Bismillah alias Abdullah, son of Gulab, and Kamal, son of Jahanzaib.

Marwat said that the two men had also been involved in cases of street crime and house robberies registered at various police stations in Malir district. The case was registered and further investigation is underway.
