The general council of the Ski Federation of Pakistan (SFP) unanimously elected Vice Chief of the Air Staff Air Marshal Sohail Gul Khan as its new president on Thursday.


The council meeting, held at Air Headquarters, was presided by Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt who is also the patron-in-chief of the SFP.

Speaking to participants of the meeting, the air chief highlighted contributions of SFP office bearers and assured the federation of full support from the Pakistan Air Force for its ongoing and future projects.

Butt also acknowledged efforts made by PAF for the social uplift of Naltar and improvement of educational facilities for children in the area. He also spoke about the chairlift project at Naltar and the contributions made by PAF in this regard.

The air chief further appreciated the success of the volunteer programme for the education of youth, especially the participation by 96 girls for education through the programme.

Representatives of all member ski associations—PAF, army, Gilgit-Balitistan Scouts, Civil Aviation Authority and other affiliated member clubs—participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, SFP Secretary General Air Commodore Mussarat Ali gave a detailed overview of skiing activities in 2013-14 as well as of future projects of the federation.

The members were briefed about efforts being made by the federation for the inclusion of ski championship results for the award of the Quaid-i-Azam trophy.
