Sohail Shehzad hits 134-point break

Cueist dominates Mohsin Amin in snooker ranking championship.

Sohail Shehzad hit the highest break of the tournament (134) on his way to defeat Mohsin Amin 4-3 in the 6th NBP Snooker Ranking Championship on Thursday.


Amin’s fightback after each alternate frame went in vain as Sohail triumphed with scores of 93-04, 25-65, 134-01(134), 56-72, 58-13, 12-67 and 61-30.

Meanwhile, defending champion Asjad Iqbal registered his second consecutive victory by thumping Mujahid Ali Shah 4-1, while Shahram Changezi won with a similar scoreline against Aneel Emanuel.

Former number two cueist Sultan Muhammad had an easy outing against Abdul Raheem in a straight-frames win, while Mohammad Asif Toba completed a similar rout of Khurram Agha.

Youngster Mohammad Majid beat Nauman Awan 4-3 as he tried to overcome the disappointment of missing out on the Asian 6-Red and Team Championships.

“I want to make a place among the top players of Pakistan so that I don’t miss out on important events again,” vowed Majid.

Abu Saim did not have to work hard as he overcame Fawad Khan 4-1 and Mohammad Asif won in similar fashion with scores of 60-62, 74-16, 72-48, 69-0 and 117-0.
