MINGORA:

Former chief minister of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Shamsul Mulk lamented the failure of previous governments to tap the country’s natural resources and energy potential.

Speaking at a seminar on trade promotion on the last day of Swat Trade Exhibition and Symposium 2014, he discussed the merits of implementing policies to bolster Pakistan’s energy sector.

“In the 1970s, other countries expected Pakistan to become the Asian Tiger because of our natural resources and rapid scale of development,” he said. “Unfortunately, we were held back by the absence of consistent policies.”

He added only a strong and sincere leadership can navigate the country towards development and change.

The panelists at the session raised suggestions on improving the development sector in the country. Amjad Afridi, the K-P chief minister’s adviser, assured them the K-P government was adopting measures to revive the scope for tourism and sports in the province.
