Put your lights on: Govt committed to providing electricity to every home says Atif

Beneficiaries would only pay 10% of the power tariff, while the government would bear the rest of the expense.

K-P Minister for Energy and Power Mohammad Atif Khan said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has vowed to provide electricity to every home and bring about an energy revolution.

According to a handout issued on Wednesday, the minister said at a meeting that solar power will be provided to around 100 villages of the province which are deprived of electricity.

He said work was in full swing to provide electricity to 2,900 homes, as per the annual development program. The beneficiaries would only pay 10% of the power tariff, while the government would bear the rest of the expense, said Khan.

He claimed work was also under way to set up small and large hydropower projects.

During the meeting, Secretary Energy & Power Sahibzada Saeed Ahmed said the provincial government had already started 356 mini micro hydropower projects in areas deprived of electricity.
