BANNU: Toll tax has been increased by Rs40 by the government on a route taken by Bannu transporters. In response to the move, transporters in the district have threatened to challenge the increment in the high court. A meeting was held on Sunday by the All Transport Workers Confederation, led by their president Haji Maqbool Zaman Haider. Office bearers of the association were also present at the meeting. Haider said transporters are already inconvenienced by Karak toll plaza, set up at Karapa on Indus Highway. The additional amount charged on vehicles en route to Bannu is unjust, said Haider. Others speaking on the occasion said if the government did not revoke the decision, the transporters will be forced to launch protests across the province.
