Helping hands: Saad reviews flood-control measures

Pakistan Railways officials said locomotives imported from China had performed well.

LAHORE: Railway Minister Khwaja Saad Rafique on Sunday chaired a meeting to review arrangements being made to provide relief to those affected by floods. The minister was given a briefing on the flood situation. He was told that railway bridges, tracks, buildings and assets were safe. He was informed the train service had been affected at Lahore-Narowal and Sialkot-Wazirabad sections. Pakistan Railways officials said locomotives imported from China had performed well. They said the freight operation had improved. Operations General Manager Javaid Anwar, Railway Inspector General Munir Ahmad Chishti, Deputy Inspector General Shariq Jamal, Finance Adviser Ghulam Mustafa, Chief Mechanical Engineer Tariq Khan, Chief Operating Superintendent Mahmood Hasan and Chief Marketing Manager Zubair Shafi Ghauri attended the meeting.
