Alternative energy: Ministry vows to end load-shedding
Provincial Energy Minister Chaudhry Sher Ali says Punjab govt is developing small coal-fired power plant in 7 cities

Provincial Energy Minister Chaudhry Sher Ali has said that the Punjab government is developing a small coal-fired power plant in seven cities in order to generate energy to mitigate power shortage and eliminate load-shedding. Talking to a delegation, he said the country is facing the worst energy crisis and the government was taking effective measures to overcome it. He said elimination of the energy crisis was vital for keeping the wheel of industries moving on. “Ridding the people of load-shedding and bringing the country out of darkness is our mission,” he added. Besides Lahore, he said, small power plants of 55x2 megawatts running through coal will be set up in Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Gujrat and Multan, he said. He added that coal yards would also be constructed for storing coal for these projects in Punjab and concerned officials should take immediate steps in this regard.
