Bad Business: Damages sought over defective phone
Adnan requested the court to direct the respondent to pay him Rs100,000 as damages.

A man who bought a mobile phone for Rs10,000 has sought Rs100,000 as damages claiming that he had been sold a defective phone. A consumer court issued a notice to the proprietor of the mobile phone shop Muhammad Adnan had bought the phone from. Adnan said he had bought a mobile phone from Muhammad Azam’s shop in Samanabad for Rs10,000. He said Azam had assured him that he would take responsibility if the phone malfunctioned. Adnan said after a few days, he noticed that that the phone had bad reception and his calls were interrupted by static. He said he complained to the respondent who directed him to bring the phone to his shop and collect it after two days. He said he collected his phone after two days but the fault had not been fixed. He said that he had contacted Azam about the phone again but he refused to fix his phone or replace it. Adnan requested the court to direct the respondent to pay him Rs100,000 as damages. Muhammad Azam told The Express Tribune that the allegations were false. He said he had repaired the phone and Adnan had collected it but he had not contacted him after that.
