FAISALABAD: Divisional Commissioner Sardar Akram Javed on Wednesday said administrations of all districts of Faisalabad division should be on high dengue alert.  He said they should ensure that dengue-fever control arrangements be implemented in the wake of recent heavy rainfall. “We must take steps to prevent dengue breeding this season,” he said. He was presiding over a meeting to review implementation of anti-dengue arrangements.  The commissioner said dengue fever was a social issue. He said the disease could be eradicated with the participation of the society. Javed said an awareness campaign would be launched to educate citizens on the importance of maintaining hygiene and draining stagnant water. The commissioner said tyre shops, junkyards, graveyards, parks, air coolers, water bodies and containers must be checked repeatedly to avoid dengue larvae breeding. He said dengue counters and wards must be functional and indoor and outdoor vector surveillance should be held regularly.
