Barely a day after falling out with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan, the party’s defunct president Makhdoom Javed Hashmi claimed that the current tussle between the ruling party and PTI was a “scripted” affair.
“When Imran Khan laid bare the entire plan, I had raised objections, saying we would not get anything out of it,” said Hashmi while making the disclosure at Parliament House.
Addressing the media, Hashmi said: “Everything was happening as per the plan according to which there would be elections in September and for that matter the chairman had asked us (Jahangir Tareen, Shah Mehmood Qureshi and me) to hunt for new members for elections.”
“Imran promised everything, and then broke every promise,” he added.
“I cannot disrespect the court but wanted to let the Supreme Court know as a deal had been sealed [with the judges as per the plan],” he added. “Imran Khan told me that he would get a chief justice, who would be sympathetic to us,” he said.
Talking about the plan, he said: “Imran had told the core committee it would not be called a martial law. We will file a petition in the Supreme Court and get a judge of our choosing, who will say okay. The chief justice will validate the actions that will be taken eventually and this would not be the Bangladesh model.”
When asked to name the SC judge, Hashmi said that the PTI chief had hinted at getting a validation for all the acts from the incumbent chief justice. “Today I have heard that the chief justice has called all judges,” he said, hinting that it was part of the plan.
And while Hashmi remained coy about who was behind the conspiracy, he could not help but allude to the military which, he alleged, was the driving force that kept the PTI and the PAT protest marches together.
“You [Imran Khan] will only move when Qadri moves. Whether it was from Lahore, or when we arrived. Are we their hostages?” Hashmi said angrily. “You were only abiding, because they told you to move [in tandem with Qadri].”
He also made references to the Inter-Services Intelligence chief Lt Gen Zaheerul Islam and several members of his own party without finishing sentences or elaborating on the allegations.
Hashmi claimed that he was still president of the party. ” Khan Sahib, I wish you had read your own party’s constitution,” he said, alluding to Imran’s allegedly unilateral decision to remove him.
On Sunday, Hashmi had claimed that the entire core committee had decided against the move to march towards the PM House; but Imran Khan later vetoed the decision and asked his supporters to march ahead after he received certain ‘instructions’.
Denying Imran Khan’s claim that Javed Hashmi was the only one to oppose his decision to move forward, Hashmi says Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Jehnagir Tareen, Pervaiz Khattak and Dr Arif Alvi also opposed it.
Later, talking to Express News anchor Javed Chaudhry, Hashmi said he was concerned that those among Imran’s inner circle had started talking about military matters. “I don’t have any evidence nor do I think the army is backing Imran,” he said.
“I had advised Imran Khan several times that we must find our own way, and not rely on support from anyone,” he said, adding that he now felt there was an unseen force making the PTI take certain decisions.
PTI’s reaction
Speaking shortly after Javed Hashmi’s allegations, PTI leader Dr Arif Alvi said he was not aware of any script, as suggested by the veteran politician.
“Javed Hashmi was with us on everything till we moved from Constitution Avenue to the PM House,” he said, adding that the decision to join Dr Qadri was made by the party and not at the behest of a third party.
Meanwhile, the PTI’s Central Information Secretary Dr Shireen Mazari said If Hashmi thought PTI was linked to the army then he should have immediately resigned.
“The fact is that there was no such talk in any meeting nor is there any such covert agenda. The chairman had said from day one that if the legal venues of redress failed to give justice to the PTI’s appeals against rigging, then the party would come out on the roads to protest,” she said in a statement.

@EX PTI Supporter: If you decide to go backwards, good for you, don't come running reaping the rewards of PTI's struggle. The only stupid I see here is you, nobody else.
@Mohsin Khan: You are 100% right. Asma jahangir always said PTI and PAT are here for 'POLITICS OF BLOOD'. She is now 100% correct. Hashmi is always trustworthy. Imran khan is so stupid he appreciates fighters of PAT. According to this standard 'Khudkush of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi' are his ideal. Very stupid, foolish dictatorial idiot. I will not even beleive his cricket commentry anymore.
How boring and illiterate is IK. Each time he talks, he spews half truths or outright lies. He says nowhere in the west would elections with cheating be acceptable, holding the UK as an example; I ask him, was he not there when the EU experts who had come to vigilate the elections, declare them fair? Where was he when it was said the cheating that took place in a few constituencies, would not have effected the results in any major manner. Why does he not say what Choudri Nisar reiterated in parliament about the illegibility of the ink utilised to identify x number of voting papers? What about the cheating in KPK? Why did he form govenrment if he did not agree with it? What has he done in KPK to improve its economy, employment, education etc? Why are his government not caring for the IDPs? Why is his CM dancing while floods kill people in Peshawer? Why does he not hold himself on the same scale of the UK minister who resigned because of foul mouthed language used against a police officer according to IK. Has he not bad mouthed many these past days according to his own moral scale? Furthermore, the same minister according to IK was on a bike and not in a SUV - what about himself, what means of transport does he use? He is a bag full of childish contradictions that could fill an encyclopedia. One to laugh at whilst munching on popcorn - not to be taken seriously at all... Unfortunately his comedy and that joker from Canada, if successful will be the ruin of Pakistan....
Just as Ik and the Canadian cleric have called the opposition liars, after listening to Javed Hashmi Saheb discuss the dark forces giving orders to the above two clowns, their meeting in London, and seeing their moves, discuss third umpires, salute the army and so on, always coordinating their moves, I openly say Shireen Mazari, IK and the Canadian clown all lie each time they utter words... They are a terrible threat to democracy.
@Ch. Allah Daad: We wish we could get rid of people like you who despite having two eyes can't see because your brain can't understand the signals coming from your eyes and hence can't distinguish good from bad.
We trusted IK we love PTI. But there is no second opinion that PTI in no different from any other political party. The damage to trust of youth is immense. IK you were the hope but you destroyed that hope with your hands. You bury the trust in the grave deep enough so that youth won't trust anyone. Perhaps I am in pain seeing how the situation unfolds. it is unbearable atleast for me !!!
Hashmi is the only leader who has stood up to the military dictator and has given several years of his life fighting against the usurpers. While Shujat and Rashid Tully fit in PTI like a gem in the ring Hashmi does not belong there. The lifelong leaders of PTI, Qadri and Choudhries cannot fool the nation.
PTI was the future of Pakistan's politics but Imran's collaboration with fake revolutionary thug has destroyed future of millions. Still there is a time that PTI remove Imran Khan and elect a sensible leader.
What a waste of our time as a country, this whole tussle! We only have Imran Khan to blame.
"Collusion Claim...." Hashmi, So you thought of all this all by yourself or did Saad Rafiq, when he visited you in the hospital, helped you understand this complex situation?
Only person acting according to a script is Javed Hashmi. The script was handed down to him in the hospital by the visiting PMLN parliamentarians.
" “Imran promised everything, and then broke every promise,” he added." +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ IK passes the acid test that he is a Pakistani Politician.
They wanted to divide army for their ugly agenda.Plot unveiled. When dust will finally settle and things will be clearer it must be the duty of parliament not to sit idol but go after rouge elements in the services for conspiring against the state.Politicians will have to show courage.
Through a false propaganda. They want to change govt! Ik exposed. Shameful!
Kicked out of PTI, no income, lavish lifestyle comes to screeching halt. Getting revenge.
IK's words and intentions vs this guy's, thank you, IK all the way.
This man has anticipated and rightly so that ship is sinking hence seeing no option but to jump out. He had at least saved his skin.
Everyone is saying it that the army is playing foul - be it The Economist. FT, Reuters, etc
