Army rejects assertions that they are backing PTI, PAT

The statement added that it was unfortunate that Army was being dragged into such controversies.

RAWALPINDI:
The Army on Monday evening rejected assertions that they were backing either the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) or the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) in any way during the current standoff.

In a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations, it “categorically rejected the assertions that Army and ISI were not backing the protesters.”

“Army is an apolitical institution and has expressed its unequivocal support for democracy at numerous occasions.”


The statement added that it was unfortunate that Army was being dragged into such controversies.”

“Integrity and unity of the Army is its strength which it upholds with pride.”

The army’s statement came after PTI President Javed Hashmi had alleged that there was some possible support to the PTI and PAT supporters.
