Journalist Irshad Mastoi was laid to rest in the graveyard near Numaish Ground in Jacobabad on Friday evening.
He and two other journalists were shot dead by armed men at Kabeer Centre in Quetta three days ago. Irshad’s body was brought to Jacobabad from Quetta on Friday afternoon. His body was laid to rest amid hundreds of mourners in his native graveyard near Numaish Ground.
The funeral prayers were attended by a large number of journalists and people from the area.
Irshad, the bureau chief of Online news agency and the assignment editor of a private news channel, left behind a widow, two daughters and a son.
The deceased’s elder brother, Sarang Mastoi, who works for a private TV channel, told The Express Tribune that Irshad was a professional journalist without any enmities. He said that his brother’s death was the result of target killing and that the government should therefore investigate it and the murders of the two others along those lines.
