Police said around a 7,260-strong force will provide security in Peshawar and each Police Qaumi Razakar (volunteer) will be paid Rs800 per day.
“There are around 129 checkpoints established and there will be 145 police vehicles on roads throughout the day,” a police official told The Express Tribune. He added that carrying weapons has been banned. Moreover, Afghan refugees have been asked to stay inside their camps, otherwise strict action will be taken against them.
“Motorcycle riding has been banned as well and those violating the restriction will be arrested,” he added, saying each police station and its SHO has been asked to patrol their respective areas.
