Gang busted: AJK police arrest carjacker, robbers

The Azad Kashmir police have arrested three suspected robbers and a carjacker, police sources said on Friday. According to sources, the Kotli police arrested an alleged kingpin of a carjackers gang, identified as Matloob Butt, near Bannah Khoiratta and recovered three cars (LXH-922, LRR-310, FDW-423) and a carry van (RS-664) from his possession. The police also recovered four bottles of wine and 1kg hashish from Butt’s possession. The local people hailed the police action against the most notorious criminal of the area. Meanwhile, in another raid three persons were arrested for their alleged involvement in snatching money from people at gunpoint in the capital city. A team headed by Station House Officer (SHO) Rashid Habib of the Secretariat Police Station Chatter Muzaffarabad arrested Owais Mir, Arsalan Mughal and Basharat Awan who were involved in robbery and snatching of money from the people in and around the capital city. The SHO said that on the small hours of Friday they raided a hideout and arrested the suspects. The police also recovered Rs20,000 from their possession snatched from people.
