Cut short: Five die in separate incidents in Swat

At least five people died in separate incidents in Swat on Friday.


According to the police, two women committed suicide in Kanju village of Kabal tehsil. Wife of Syed Rehman consumed poison and fell unconscious. She was then taken to Saidu Teaching Hospital where she passed away. Similarly, another married woman in Dherai, Kanju also committed suicide by swallowing virulent drugs. Reasons for the suicides could not yet be ascertained. Police have registered FIRs for both cases and investigations are under way.


In another incident, the body of a man identified as Alauddin was found from the Swat River in Fizagat. According to Mingora police, the place where Alauddin drowned was yet to be ascertained.


Separately, a 12-year-old boy died after falling from the roof of his house as he was flying a kite in Naway Kalay area of Mingora. According to the police, Murad Ali Khan lost his balance and fell down. He died on the spot.


Meanwhile, a suspected terrorist from Swat died in Kohat jail.


Sources said Bakht-e-Karam, a resident of Durushkhela, had been detained for his alleged involvement in the Swat unrest. He died of natural causes and was handed over to his family in Swat.
