Twist of fate: Wanted criminal found dead

Further investigation in the case is under way.

HARIPUR: Unidentified assailants gunned down an absconder wanted by Ghazi police in different criminal cases on Wednesday afternoon. A police official told The Express Tribune that Akhtar Nawaz, son of Shah Nawaz of Dora Sirikot village, had been on the run for over one year and was wanted for various murders, attempt to murder and kidnapping cases. On Wednesday afternoon, residents spotted his bullet-riddled body on the outskirts of the village. Nobody from the village has yet claimed responsibility for the murder of the wanted outlaw, the official added. Further investigation in the case is under way.
