HARIPUR: Anti-corruption authorities have arrested a girdawar and a patwari. Sources said Jameel Akhtar, a resident of Doyian Khushki, bought a seven-kanal and nine-marla piece of land for Rs2 million in June. Since all patwaris across K-P were on strike at the time, girdawar Muhammad Nawaz took Rs200,000 as a fee but he neither issued a receipt nor deposited the money in the bank. Akhtar lodged a complaint against the girdawar and a subsequent inquiry found the allegations to be true. The official was then arrested. Meanwhile, in a separate case, authorities arrested a patwari, Abid Sultan, for allegedly misappropriating Rs3 million.
