Public offices: ‘Follow workplace harassment law’

Officials said zero tolerance should be shown towards people guilty of harassing women.

FAISALABAD: All heads of departments were directed on Tuesday to ensure the implementation of the Protection Against Harassment of Women at Workplace Act. The instruction came from the provincial services and general administration department. Officials said zero tolerance should be shown towards people guilty of harassing women. They said it was binding upon government functionaries and commercial entities to foster a women-friendly atmosphere at workplaces. They said steps should be taken to protect women at workplaces. Officials were directed to take strict notice of harassment complaints and conduct transparent inquiries to probe allegations. They were directed to take action against those found guilty in accordance with the stipulations of the act in addition to terminating the services of those found guilty of harassing women.
