Helping hands: Farming scheme to be re-launched

The government is planning to re-launch the poultry farming scheme for women in rural areas across the province

FAISALABAD: The government is planning to re-launch the poultry farming scheme for women in rural areas across the province, a spokesman of the Livestock Department said on Monday. He said paperwork for training women workers in marketable skills was being completed.He said women living in rural areas would be provided training in poultry farming. The spokesman said an earlier attempt at launching the scheme had been abandoned following an outbreak of Newcastle Disease which resulted in deaths of poultry birds on a large scale. He said vaccination facility for poultry birds at the rate of 50 paisa per bird would be provided by the government.  He said teams of the Livestock Department would visit villages every week and make announcement regarding the facility through mosque loudspeakers.
