Extramarital: Man kills wife over alleged affair

The victim had earlier sworn she was innocent.

A man allegedly gunned down his wife in Darband over suspicions about her having an extramarital affair, police said on Monday.

According to the police, Salma Bibi, 23, married Hashim Khan of Phul Doga village around two years ago and the couple has a year old son. Last week, some members of Hashim’s family accused Salma Bibi of having an illicit relationship with a man from the same locality. Salma Bibi, however, swore she was not involved in any extramarital affair and the issue was settled for the time being.

However, on Sunday afternoon, Salma Bibi was speaking to someone on the phone when Hashim Khan entered the house and started thrashing her. Salma Bibi reportedly tried to clarify who she was speaking to, but blinded by rage, Hashim shot Salma six times with his 30-bore pistol, killing her on the spot. The accused managed to escape after the incident, said the police.
