LAHORE: A man was crushed under a container near Qurtaba Chowk on Sunday. Police said the container was brought to the Qurtaba Chowk for the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Istehkam-i-Pakistan rally on Monday. They said the containers had been placed at a party office at the Qurtaba Chowk. Police said the container fell when a crane pulled it so that the party’s banner could be placed on it. They said 30-year-old Abuzar Jan, a resident of Shahdara, was standing beneath the container to tie the banner’s string when one of the chains of the crane broke, crushing him under it. He was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
