India's Border Security Force (BSF) claims that two Indian civilians were also killed in the firing.
According to Pakistani officials, Indian army started firing in Charwah sector, Sialkot at around 1 am.
As a result of the heavy firing, Imdad Hussain, 60, was killed in Jagran Gari area. A woman was also killed and her two daughters were injured when Indian mortars fell in Khadaral village.
Three women were reportedly injured when mortars fired by Indian forces landed in Bina Sulehrian.
"The BSF again resorted to unprovoked firing in the Chaprar and Harpal sectors," a Pakistani senior military official told AFP.
Pakistan Rangers retaliated with heavy gunfire that BSF claims killed two civilians as well.
"Two civilians were killed" and four people injured, including a paramilitary soldier, on the Indian side of the international frontier when Pakistani forces opened fire, Indian police inspector-general Rajesh Kumar told AFP.
On August 8, in a brief moment of goodwill between the nations, Pakistan freed an Indian soldier captured after he was swept into the Pakistani zone of Kashmir when his patrol boat capsized.
Earlier this week, India cancelled bilateral talks that were scheduled for August 25 in protest to Pakistani High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit meeting All Parties Hurriyet Conference leaders before the talks. Pakistan described the cancellation of the bilateral talks as a "setback" for relations and asserted the meetings with Kashmiri separatists were a traditional practice ahead of talks with India "to facilitate meaningful discussions".

@ModiFied: Actually we have closed on big "Indian" front in the form of TTP. Obviously something had to be done by the Indian side. We under standing these "confidence building" measures and are replying modestly.
@Syed Jalal Kashmiri: How about a two bit of tears for the Kashmiris who died on Indian side of border by Pakistani ranger's firing? Or is it that in your hate for India you forgot that your own brothers and sisters are being killed by Pakistani rangers?
@Arjun Singh:
Arjun I agree with you. Who ever started first need to stop these stupid act. These politics only killing innocent people and spreading hatred towards each other.
@Anonymous: You probably have some misconceptions about 1965 War and "Soviet War". You never won 1965 war and you never fought the "soviet war". Were you winning 1965 war, your leaders would not have had rushed to USSR for asking to arrange truce with India. Soviet War was between US and USSR. Afghans and Pakistan were mere pawns. Had USSR attacked Pakistan, there would not have been much of it left then.
It is the dirty politics of both the country which creates differences among the people of both nations, when ministers of both country meet in any ocation they have dinner togeather and have smile in their faces.
you must remember what happened in past...all wars started by pak lost by pak.after so much struggle at loc you should accept now upu cant take kashmir from India.
Here is my take on this whole scenario. The NS government is in trouble. There is a chance that it would be sacked. Then there would be a vacuum. Who would fill it? IK or TUQ can not. Zardari won't be accepted. Who remains? Army. But army needs that to be vindicated. How is that possible? Well start a little skirmish. Use media to show that India is hawkish. Mulk khatre me hai and grab the power. After Musharaf episode, Pakistani people are highly unlikely to accept an army ruler who will grab power for his own purpose so of course now army is going to grab power in name of greater good.
There is one reason why I look into Pakistan's news papers is that I come to know there side of the story..
@Patriotic Pakistani:
Wishful thinking. The last time there was a war between India and Pakistan, Pakistan was nowhere near united to protect their country nor for that matter did Pakistan know anything at all about how to protect from what you term “evil forces”. In am referring to the 1971 war when India liberated Bengali’s from the clutches of Pakistan. In that war there was no evidence of either Pakistani unity or Pakistani knowledge of protecting themselves.
@Arjun Singh: I haven't ever heard of our Indian media giving coverage to Pakistani deaths. If there is firing from both sides (no matter who started it first) people are likely to become casualties on either side.
As long as there is Kashmir, there can never be peace between India and Pakistan.
@wonderer:
I vouch for what you are saying. I have seen on NDTV 24X7 ( available on the net ) the reports from Indian journalists who are showing pictures of the damage Pakistan is doing. You can trust them. Our Army may be the best in the world, but they never tell us the truth.
I do not even trust the reports of ISPR about what they are doing in NWA. Our reporters must confirm them, but will ISI permit them.
@TiffinBox:
You are right!
@Blithe: How can you call it democratically elected with so much evidence of rigging?
A great way to lower the political temperature and send IK home empty handed as well as unite the nation behind Pak army. Advantage Nawaz Sharif.
@Patriotic Pakistani, what makes you think that India will be divided when it will come to war? When the time comes, be dead sure, India is united.
My condolences to the families and Pakistan for the murder of their civilians by Indian terrorist army. This is the daily life of Kashmiris. Wake up Pakistan, Kashmir, and Muslim Ummah to defend the honor and life of your women and children. Free Kashmir.
Peace and blessings to all martyrs of Muslims.
I think nawaz is more a Indian Prime minister He had lost trust of Nation he is creating divisions and using militancy to save his skin Unfortunately he and his corruption ridden government is in its last days willing to destroy the unity of this country
Our reports would sound much more reliable and credible if our News Channels are allowed to report from LOC and give visuals also. Why can't Hamid Mir or Talat report from there? Indian TV are showing visuals about all this like they did from Kargil. Indian public is convinced that the trouble makers are Pakistani forces. We must take a note of this.
this is to show support for mr nawaz sharif. nothing more.
ET mods - 2nd attempt. Please permit a factual and relevant rebuttal to comments posted here.
@Moiz Omar: Share your sentiment that the mindless killings need to stop. But when Kasab and David Headley's sworn testimony in a court of law are not considered adequate, when testimony of Indian terrorist who was given Pakistani passport and trying o ecruit terrorists was deported by Saudi authorities is not considered eidence, when a physical tunnel is not acepted as evidence, when intercepted phone calls during and after 26/11 are not acepted as evidence, what will be achieved by installing cameras. That evidence oo will be rejected.
@Pity: Correct. india will not fall in the trap of inviting a 3rd party (UNMOG) in the Kashmir dispute when Simla agreement clearly states that the dispute is to be resolved bilaterally. India rejects Pakistan's attempts to internationalise the issue.
@Rangoonwala: What economic miracles can be expected in less than 3 months? Already due to the policy actions taken billions of dollars of investment has started to flow to India both from domestic and foreign invesors. The FDI in June 2014 was 43% higher than in June 2013. Not just Indian industrialists are higjly enthused but foreign portfolio managers and economists of foreign banks have also revised growth estimates of India upwards and are putting their money where there mouth is. Pakistan was not even mentioned in his August 15 speech to the nation. He has been actively working to improve relationship with other neighbours (Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh) rather than flexing muscles with them. It is Pakistan establishment which was alarmed by Modi's initial overtures that Nawaz responded to and is doing everything possible to derail any opportunity for peace.
So many Indian trolls on this news, Maybe because they cannot digest the true story.
@chromeuser: Pakistan has other issues than digging tunnels to India. We have learned from India that there are several other ways of sending terrorists to neighboring countries than through ground tunnels. You must be aware of the method being used by India, right?
@Ishan: If India stages a war against Pakistan, then the Pakistanis, which are right now being seen as a dispersed nation, will become united to protect our homeland. We might have several differences with each other but we know how to protect our country from evil forces.
@Ishan: This war will kill millions on both sides. We are nuclear armed you know that right?
@chromeuser: Ndtv, are you serious?
@Utkarsh: Wait a sec, if it's a tunnel between the 2 countries, than it is a tunnel from india to Pakistan aswel.
@Moiz Omar:
There is UN Military Observer Group present on the LoC but India has refused to acknowledge it and it defunct on the Indian side. India does not report any violations of the ceasefire to the UNMOGIP. If The UN group is allowed then it will be revealed about the way Indian troops are involved in violating the LoC.
Modi, I want one last decisive war against Pakistan. Economy will suffer but it would better than this.
@Moiz Omar: 2 days back zee news went on the border to cover who's violating the ceasefire first. No wonder Pakistan started firing first to give covers for terrorists which was captured live by Zee news. Check the video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfALQmmZtWA Also Pakistani army are creating tunnels to export terrorists to India - http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/apprehension-about-cross-border-tunnel-after-cave-in-near-line-of-control-580309
This is Modi at work. Because the other big promises made during election will not work. None of the economic miracles are forth coming. Except tried and true border clashes.
Why don't both sides set up cameras on both sides of the borders? This way we'll be able to probably tell who shot first, and maybe find a way to actually stop this once and for all!
Indian media reports two Indians dead
fake news
Indian papers are saying the same thing about Pakistan, and also that a tunnel from Pakistan into India has been discovered.
Wish someone from the army on either side lays bare what actually happens, who fires first and why.
1 or 2. Photo says 1, report says 2. Wonderful reporting!
Pakistan media should also give coverage to the two dead Indians killed by pakistan rangers. I don't know who start the firing but Pakistani rangers are no different than BSF. If you don't give coverage to the death of Indian villagers in Jammu who were killed along with two Pakistani villagers, then Pakistani youth will develop hatred against India and this is not good for future at all
Indian media is saying that Pakistan is violating ceasefire. Don't really know what the truth is. One things looks certain now. Indo-Pak hostilities are increasing and sort of mini war is going to continue for a quite sometime now. Most difficult part is to understand Pakistani behavior. How many front Pakistan wants to open ? Fighting all over Pakistan and borders. Isn't this total anarchy ?
Indian excuse as usual - some animals have come near the fence and jungle guards were unable to contain them trying jumping the fence. It was just to shoo away them back in Jungle in best interest of Jungle's ecosystem .... :-)
All the while a new "sikander " has hijacked Isloo . Because he can't become a PM through the kosher way, IK is trying to deseat a democratically elected PM by street protests .
