Days after a flight brought back 509 Pakistanis stranded in Libya, another special flight of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Friday brought back over 200 Pakistanis stranded in Tripoli.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs PIA in coordination with the fully functional Pakistani mission in Libya helped bring back the stranded expatriates.

The Pakistani embassy in Tripoli has also set up relief camps which are catering to 1,700 Pakistanis. They too will be repatriated through special flights, or other land and sea routes which are currently being explored.

Efforts are also being made to effect release of all Pakistani citizens currently detained in Libya. Out of a total 175 Pakistani detainees, 107 have already been freed and the release of the remaining is being pursued. Pakistan has demanded consular access for all detained Pakistani nationals in Libya.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been liaising with the Ministry of Finance, Aviation Division and PIA for the relief and evacuation effort involving several thousand stranded Pakistanis.
