Threat averted: Bomb planted near BHU defused

A police official said unidentified militants had planted the bomb to blow up the BHU

CHARSADDA: Police defused an improvised explosive device (IED) weighing five kilogrammes near the basic health unit (BHU) in Khairabad, Shabqadar on Thursday. A police official said unidentified militants had planted the bomb to blow up the BHU but the bomb disposal unit’s timely intervention prevented that from happening. He added a search operation was launched after defusing the device, but no one had been arrested till this report was filed.
