The prime minister, who arrived at the parliament building while surrounded by workers of PAT on the instructions of their leader Dr Tahirul Qadri, was greeted with overwhelming support from members of the treasury as well as the Opposition.
Lawmakers asked the prime minister to publicly announce that he would not resign from premiership.
“Prime Minister should not resign at any cost”, Mahmood Khan Ackakzai of Pakhtunkawa Milli Awami Party asked Nawaz. Ackakzai also urged that assembly should remain in the session and opposed any suggestion to move the session to any other place in view of sit-ins outside parliament building.
Achakzai declared that, “We will not allow anyone to move the session to another place and would hold it here even if we are killed.” Adding that if the so-called ‘Peoples Parliament’ of Dr Qadri and Imran Khan have hundreds of thousands of followers, this parliament has the backing of millions of people of the country. Terming the staging of the ‘Peoples Parliament’ an unconstitutional act, he demanded that the government and law enforcing agencies should make sure the smooth arrival of members in the house.
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl group (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman backed the prime minister and urged the premier to say “no” to the demands of those protesting outside the Parliament House.
“We are standing by prime minister and no one would dare to destabilise the democratic system.”
He added that all political parties were backing democracy and the Parliament had vowed to stand against all those who want to grab power by by-passing the Parliament.
The JUI-F chief lamented that unseen forces were backing Qadri despite his anti-Constitution acts and questioned why Qadri has not been taken to task, while Sufi Mohammad in Malakand Division was brought to task for the same thing that Qadri was doing.
The JUI-F chief also threatened to disturb the system of Qadri if he succeeds in toppling the current system and said that if his group decided to stage a sit-in, then they [Qadri and Imran] would forget about their small sit-ins.
Speaking on the occasion Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Shazia Marri said that the objective of the Azadi March should not disgrace the Parliament and the Constitution, adding that the supremacy of the Parliament should be a priority of all democratic forces.
Reminding the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) that had they not allowed the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif during the PPP’s tenure when Shahbaz had proclaimed he would drag the then elected President in the streets, then they would not have had to face the current situation where Khyber-Pakhtunkhawa chief minister was demanding the resignation from the prime minister.
Joining the chorus, PPP’s MNA Ijaz Jhakrani asked why should the prime minister resign. “Give some concrete reason for it.”
Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) Rasheed Godil also backed Nawaz and demanded PTI to resign from assemblies as they announced couple of days back.
The government side was also in full swing to interact with other parliamentary groups in the house with members shuttling from one parliamentary party to the other in the house to speak on the floor of the house. Some treasury and even cut short the speeches of their members to give time to other parliamentary groups.
PML-N’s Obaidullah Shadikhel, who had lost the general elections against Imran on NA-71 before winning it in the subsequent by-elections, suggested the government take stern action PTI chief. He claimed that Imran would understand the language of reconciliation.
The chair had to expunge some strong words of Shadikhel against Imran and his supporters saying that it didn’t suit him to behave like Imran Khan.
The house was then adjourned till August 21, 2014.

Parliment which has majority of PMLN will definately suggest Nawaz Sharif not to resign . Isnt that common sense . Stop playing with us please. Start preparing the farewell blogs for nawaz sharif .
Achakzai has blackmailed government for breakaway separatist movement of Pakhtunistan in exchange for recognition of power and monies. So to consider Khan Achakzai as a leader is a serious insult to talented Pashtuns. Loyal Pashtuns support any leader- which is talented and can bring true democratic reforms. Let us examine and trace back to facts to see who is democratic and who are the thugs. In Pakistan, women, children, elders have come out of their homes in the streets are protesting PEACEFULLY against a corrupt regime which rigged elections to come into power. Hired criminials like Gullu Butt to terrorize people. Blocked and deny peaceful protestors their right to a oeaceful assembly by snatching their cars, arresting and killings. The corrupt regime even initiated violence with rock throwing at peaceful protestors in Gujranwala. Then they hired Billu Butt and thugs to terrorize Mr. Qureshis home. They disabled Dr Qadri's vehicle with a jammer. These thugs continue to setup roadblocks and are holding some 25,000 peaceful protestors. So for Anyone to discuss democracy should define democracy clearly and ask god to derail them from hypo racy. It is either a matter misguidance or double standards. Wishing for true democracy for Pakistan.
I am always with PTI... my every time vote for PTI no matter what..
@bash gul: The Election commission enjoys enormous powers and the system has been made fool proof where there are no chances of rigging every voter has been issued voter I card and the photo of the voter is also available on the voter list previously the candidates used spend without hesitation but now every single pie spent is counted election posters bear the name of printer, the press from where printed and the quantity and these posters can not be put on any public property and before putting the poster on public walls permission is must every two observers are appointed for every constituency one for expenditure and the other to observe that the code conduct is strictly adhered to so the question of rigging does not arise yes there are stray incedents of violence in some states until unless these steps are not taken you can not expect elections to be free and fair.
@Anjum Arshi: All those problems are because of the system we have in place. The protests going on are to create a new system, remove these corrupt rulers and to bring back the hordes of taxpayer money stashed in foreign bank accounts. You really haven't been paying attention have you?
People may forget the size of the crowd at Red Zone, but they will not forget Khursheed Shah and NS shaking hands at the next elections. Next term for PTI guaranteed.
people supporting status quo are unable to make cogent argument on current system, so they revert to one liner attack or slogans. they bring nothing new to table that adds transparency or ways to eliminate corruption. Most of these corrupt politicians are also loan defaulters.
NS unable to make U-Turn on corruption and transperancy as he is pressed by all the parties that beneifit from current corrupt system. Pakistan is one of the most corrupt country in the world, why?
why they should not opt this? they all are partner in this business. They donot want to lose this golden egg laying hen (Pakistan). Shame on all of them who are part of corrupt system
@Fida Hussain: May Allah bless people like you with some brain.
Nothing positive can happen until all these corrupt leaders like NS, Zardari etc are in govt. I'm amazed to see how all these corrupt parliamantarians now stand together with NS just because they know if TUQ and IK will takeover they'll lose their seats so no more corruption than. And people who're praising NS up here are those sickminded ones due to whom Pakistan is suffering now.
@Ahmad:
So you are telling me that PTI is NOT status Quo Party ? Thats why they JH , JT and SMQ with them ? That's why IK asking openly to CH Nissar to join PTI..? Oh , I forgot that IK is having Self Crested Source of Aab-e-Zamzam that purifies everyone who comees to PTI. PTI is cleaning machine to remove Status Quo tag from anyone who joins PTI..May be ? Please explain Sir.
Also, after being absent from the Parliament for a whole year, Nawaz Sharif suddenly remembering there is a Parliament in Pakistan.
The writing is on the wall and change will come through PTI..
I am ashmed of voting pti. RIP
Sad to see IK being used by his hidden masters and then being disposed of like toilet paper. Serves him right by allowing Sheikh Rasheed to jump on the bandwagon of his Azaadi March.
Who are these parliamentarians. Do they represent the people of Pakistan. Do they ever get load shedding, do they drink tap water. Do their children study in Government schools. When they are sick are they ever admitted in Government hospitals. The answer is No. they do not represent the people of Pakistan. They want their perks and privileges and they want to keep them. Any one who assures them that they will continue to have them, they will support him. How will they support some one who says that you will have to live like ordinary Pakistanis?
@Abdullah: How old are you?
@Click!: I think you saw how many people are with Tahirul Qadri and Imran and they number in the thousands only. On the other hand millions believe in the sanctity of their vote and the rule of law. Learn to respect the vote of masses. Only after two or three cycles of voting can Pakistan and Pakistanis mature. Under no conditions should the PM resign since it sends a message that anarchy and mob rule is the way to go. Imagine if Tahirul Qadri had tried this nonsense in Canada - they would arrest him. Same for Imran Khan had he tried this in the UK. I for once am proud of the parliament which is showing maturity and not caving in to the megalomaniacal whims of Tahirul Qadri and Imran Khan.
@Click! Gandhi never said that. It is falsely attributed to him. Please check the facts.
Subcontinent would have been better off under British colonialism.
This situations tells us all that they are one. Their fight is to make people foolish. Well done IK and TUQ you revealed the truth. Go Nawaz Go, Go Nawaz Go...
I'm no fan of Imran Khan or TuQ and their outrageous demands, but the fact is that the writing is on the wall for Nawaz Sharif, whoever maybe behind it. It's sad, he was elected PM three times and seems like he won't be able to complete a single term - this is what happens when you refuse to learn from the past.
What post have your leader blessed you with ? chairman of ..
NS has shown great patience and character. My vote come next election will be for PMLN
If nawaz sharif is so sure about him being elected fairly then why dont he resign....if he has support of majority of people of pakistan he wikk surely be re elected as PM.NS being so fearful proves his corruption.
First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win. Even today Gandhi's lines can be very well related to the events of Pakistan. We are with you Imran Khan and Dr.Qadri
PPP, PMLN, JUIF, MQM. All these status quo parties are getting together now in fear of Imran and Qadri. They have been looting this country for the past few decades and can't see anyone else in a parliamentary position.
This is parliament on fake vote and has vested interest in continuity of corrupt system. They don't want change and will fight tooth and nail to rule the country.
East or west. Nawaz Sharif is the best.
All democratic forces must join hands and fight. There is no other way. But first, media should stop this insanity. Isn't their anything else happening in Pakistan - war, IDPs, polio, policemen killing in Karachi, Thar drought, people suffering due to Dharnas, patients not receiving care, the unchecked population growth that will destroy everything. Is nothing of these news worthy. Only these jokers and their booted backers are news worthy?
I support my Prime Minister, even though I didn't vote for him.
Z.A. Bhutto refused to have re-elections in 1977. His fate is now part of history. NS should resign and hold elections with biometric system and re-elect himself. A nation of a billion and a quarter holds election and no one complained of any rigging.
Bravo Nawaz Sharif
Allah bless my leader Nawaz Sharif. Aameen.
Which Parliament????, the so called corrupt democrats?? who have robbed this country of its wealth and still intend to save their seat and rob the country further??. rather than to resign from their seats honestly. Which Parliament?? the corrupt democrats who are responsible for killing 14 innocent people in Model Town and injuring over 90 people with bullets which the world over are evidence to on the Television and Electronic media??. and no FIR could be filed against them todate. Do you call them Parliamentarian's? who have come in power thru' unfair & rigged elections. Sorry all one can say that this is an unconstitutional, undemocratic parliament with fake parliamentarian's.
Viva la Parliament of Pakistan. Long live Mahmood Achakzai. Salute to his bravery.
They have no other option as the are all on the ' gravy train ' with the PML-N.
Imran says always speak the truth. Does that also apply to U-turns and promised not kept?
The expoliters are seeing the whole exploitive system crumbling in front of thier own eyes. They cant believe, it is happening and thier lootocracy and VVip position is soon going to go away. They are fighting a lost cause
