Dialogue stalled: Hurriyat leaders decry Delhi decision

Leaders from Indian Kashmir denounced New Delhi’s decision to cancel the proposed talks with Pakistan, saying it was ‘unfortunate’ and would only prolong the standoff between the two neighbours.
APHC chief Mirwaiz Umer Farooq said the decision was very unfortunate. “We expected that the process of dialogue would open and both the governments in India and Pakistan would work together for resolving the Kashmir issue”.
“Such meetings had taken place during the tenure of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Manmohan Singh as prime ministers. So what is the hue and cry about this time?” he said. Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yaseen Malik expressed surprise over the decision of India. “Calling off secretary level talks is unfortunate. As a new regime took over India they have shown their agenda is RSS-based agenda,” Malik said. (With additional input from agencies)
