Two Muslim men running a meat shop in Dundahera village, in Gurgaon district on the Delhi-Haryana border in India, were thrashed by a mob of 50 people, The Hindu reported on Saturday. Muhammad Israr, 25, and his 40-year-old friend Aftab were at their shop near Kapashera when a large mob armed with sticks confronted them, accusing them of selling beef.
“When I tried to reason with them and showed them the receipts to prove it was buffalo meat and not beef, they started raining blows on us. They punched me in the chest, abdomen and head. Aftab was also hit on the head and sustained injuries,” recalled Israr from hospital.
The mob threw the meat in the shop into a dustbin and poured acid over it. “The meat was worth over Rs10,000,” said Israr. The police have seized samples of the meat and sent them for examination.
Israr alleged that some traffic policemen present near his shop remained mute spectators and intervened only after he was badly thrashed. While Israr and his friend were being beaten, a couple of meat shop owners in the neighbourhood pulled down the shutters to their businesses. Israr said he was too scared to return to the village.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Sangeeta Rani said it was a minor clash between the shop owner and customers over purchase of meat.
The attack comes barely a fortnight after several Muslim families, running small enterprises such as tailoring and barber shops in Basai village, were beaten up and forced to flee to their native places in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.

A few days ago, the saffron hate brigade has warned of terrible consequences in the near future. Their firebrand leader Togadia openly plans of another Gujarat or Muzaffarnagar riot and he is left unscathed by the authorities. If you want to dig in there are many many such incidents. You left all that and went for this?
It is not to say Pakistan fares any better although it never harps on Minority rights because it knows it has a terrible track record. Yet for India which aims to be a developed nation in a decade or two, this is glaring. The thing is, India sells itself much much better than what the ground reality is and Pakistan is a fabulous under seller. And it apparently doesn't even care.

Typical Muslim Hypocrisy. They are ultra sensitive when anyone try to say or do anything which is not so Islamic and in same breathe they are ultra insensitive to the sentiments of other religions. Why do they have to sell beef when they know it hurts the sentiments of majority. Are goats and Lambs not good enough? And eating beef is not even Islamic. There were no cows in Saudi Arabia. Then why do Muslims in south Asia keep slaughtering cows? Reason is pretty obvious.
These mobs should be punished. They should pay pay compensatory and also punitive damages to the muslims who were selling the meat. The culprits should also be jailed for some time to teach them a lesson.
The fact that the person was selling the meat in that area itself confirms that there are customers who buy that meat and consume it. It is not illegal and not even immoral. Hindus may not like it. If they don't, they should not visit that shop but should not do anything more than this.
There was no reason to beat them before even checking if they were selling beef or buffalo meat.

To all those who say that the culture of India and Pakistan is same, we eat the same food, wear the same clothes, speak the same same language and the prime minister of the country who says we " worship" the same God, is an eye opener. Few days back a young student of Lums was crying and trying to find out her identity. She too should read this piece of news and decide where she wants to live. This is one side of secular India.
Recently Sonia Gandhi stood in parliament and questioned about the rising incidents of communal violence in the country. When the BJP retorted that the vast majority of these incidents were taking place in states run by the Congress, she had no reply. This incident too has taken place in a state ruled by the Congress and the Congress CM there is at full liberty to investigate the incident and take strict action against the culprits as the entire police department of the state comes under him.
By the way, beef (buffalo meat) is sold openly in a number of states in India, so not sure what the hullabaloo is. Also is the media in Pakistan concerned only about Muslims in India and not other minorities?
