Alleged serial rapist caught red-handed

The accused confessed to raping various women during the initial course of interrogation

An alleged serial rapist was arrested during a raid conducted in Khadim Hussain Solangi Goth, Sohrab Goth, by the District Malir police on Friday.

The Ahsanabad police reported that the accused was identified as Yousuf, son of Babu aka Jogi. In-charge Mairaj Anwar said that the accused was arrested red-handed, when he was trying to flee after attempting to rape a woman A* inside her house.

The officer claimed that the accused had attempted to subject the woman to sexual assault at gunpoint, adding that a pistol was also recovered from his possession. Further, the accused confessed to raping various women during the initial course of interrogation. An FIR, No 234/14 under sections 425, 354 of the Pakistan Penal Code, has been registered against him. Further investigations are under way.

SIU nabs four 'robbers'

Separately, Special Investigation Unit (SIU) claimed to have apprehended four suspects allegedly involved in various cases of street crime and robberies. The arrested suspects were identified as Anwar aka Samandari, Kashif, Ghulam Rasool and Asif.

SIU chief Farooq Awan also claimed to have seized four pistols and a car from their possession, adding that they were on the wanted list of different police stations . The cases against them were registered, while further investigations are under way.

Meanwhile, four suspects who were later identified as Gul Muhammad aka Gul Khan, Hanif Khan, Jan Sher Khan and Asif Surat were taken into custody after an exchange of fire with the police in Garden area. Weapons and stolen motorcycles were recovered from their possession. According to the police officials, the arrested men were involved in various cases of mugging. The cases against them were registered. Further investigations are under way.
