During the day-long event, different competitions such as tug of war, gymnastic, table tennis and bodybuilding were held with players participating from across Khyber Agency. Students of the high school also performed during the event.
Moreover, students of Government Degree College, Landikotal performed different skits to entertain the crowd. According to the organisers, around 20,000 spectators were present at the ground.
The tug-of-war was won by Khyber Union Club and the table tennis tournament by Sajjad Shinwari.
“We have talent and a lot of enthusiasm among the youth, but unfortunately, no one arranges games here, nor are the sports grounds in good condition,” said Khyber Sports Society President Merajuddin.
He urged the government to construct a well-equipped stadium and academy where players of the agency can be groomed to represent Pakistan at the international level.
He added they are going to arrange a mega event in the agency from September 1 which will feature football and basketball among other games. He said August 25 would be the last date of registration for teams and individual players.
