MANSEHRA:

A prayer leader has accused a Suzuki driver of kidnapping the former’s wife in Shinkiari, police said on Friday.

Maulana Gul Rehman, the prayer leader at Masjid Aqsa in Majeed Colony, told the police he was leading Maghrib prayers on Thursday when he heard his children crying for help from his residence adjacent to the mosque.

After the prayers, Rehman went to his house and was told by one of his daughters that a man barged in with his accomplices and bundled Rehman’s eight-year-old daughter along with his wife Mehmoona Bibi, 31, who had a boy in her lap, into a Suzuki. Rehman said he then chased the vehicle and identified the kidnapper as Shahzam Khan, a resident of Bajna village.

The complainant said he and his wife have eight children and brushed aside the impression that she had an affair with the kidnapper.
