ISLAMABAD:

Scattered monsoon rain on Thursday morning brought a pleasant change in the weather of the twin cities.

Imran Ahmed, a meteorologist at Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD), said 18 millimetres of rain was recorded in the capital and five millimeters in Rawalpindi. He said a fresh spell of rain is likely from Friday and will continue till Sunday.

“These showers will bring down the minimum temperature by four to six degrees centigrade and the humidity level from 70 per cent to 50 per cent,” he said.

Ahmed further said there are chances of heavy rainfall in Rawalpindi Division along with Gujranwala and Hazara divisions from Friday night. “After this spell the heat wave will come to an end making the weather pleasant,” he said.

On the other hand, according to Rawal Dam Sub-divisional Officer Bilal Rana, due to the heavy rain in Murree and surrounding areas of Islamabad, the level of water in Rawal Dam reached its maximum limits due to which spillways were opened early Thursday morning.
