A couple of hours after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s address to the nation, Pakistan Awami Tehreek chief Dr Tahirul Qadri said the premier should have mentioned the brutal Model Town police operation when he was listing his government’s “successes and achievements.” Sarcastically speaking, he said PM Nawaz should have mentioned Punjab police’s brutality and how families of the 14 deceased and 90 injured in the incident were not allowed to register FIRs.
“The prime minister should have also taken credit for firing at PAT activists coming in buses to participate in Youm-e-Shuhada. He should have mentioned those thousands of women who are missing or in police custody. He should have explained how he turned Model Town into Gaza by erecting barricades” at every street corner.
Every philosopher, scientist, researcher and politician realises that only casting votes is not democracy, said the PAT chief, adding that democracy is the name of accountability, provision of rights and dispensation of justice.

democracy is luxury only few corrupt and powerful can afford. For rest is monarchy. Elections are won and lost in auction months prior to election. Pakistan should do away with elections.
Democracy is the system of giving rights to people, accountability of all, independent foreign policy, justice accessible to all in minimum time and there is no single word to represent democracy in Pakistan now.
Previosly,it was protesting parties which threatened,'wheel jam',strikes. This is the first time that Punjab/Federal governments have threatened the citizens with a 'wheel jam', and have successfully paralysed normal activity all over the country.Indeed it is a unique achievement of PMLN/Nawaz/ Shahbaz Sharif governments.
