HSSC-II results: Pindi leads with most positions in FBISE exams

All position holders in the medical and engineering groups are from twin cities.

ISLAMABAD:

Students of the twin cities clinched 14 of the 17 top positions in the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) Part-II exams of the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE).

While Rawalpindi topped the list overall, all position holders of the pre-medical and pre-engineering groups came from the twin cities.

A total of 31,930 students passed the exam out of 41,967 regular candidates with a pass percentage of 76.08.  The overall success rate, including the 11,539 private candidates, stood at 71 per cent.

As is the routine every year, girls once again took the lead in the pass percentage as well as top positions.

Minister for Education and Professional Training Balighur Rehman officially declared the result at a ceremony. He said efforts are under way to bring improvements in the FBISE examination system to make it more objective to discourage rote learning.

In the pre-medical group, Maria Amin and Muhammad Musab Hussain from Hamza Army Public School and College, Rawalpindi, grabbed the first and second positions with 1,034 and 1,028 marks, respectively. The third position was shared by Aimen Shafqat Ahmad Bazaz from Fauji Foundation College for Girls, Rawalpindi and Maham Fazal of the Army Public School and College for Girls, Rawalpindi, with 1,026 marks out of 1,050.

In the humanities group, Azizul Haq from the Institute of Islamic Sciences, Islamabad, came first with 940 marks while Areeba Zakir from Fauji Foundation College for Girls, Rawalpindi Cantt, stood second with 930 marks. Salma Bibi from the PAEC Model College for Girls, Mianwali, obtained the third position with 928 marks.

In the pre-engineering group, Maryam Asad of Hamza Army Public School and College, Rawalpindi, clinched the first position with 1,018 marks and Soban Ahmed of Islamabad Model College for Boys stood second with 1,016 marks. The third position was shared by Talha Rehman of the Punjab College, Islamabad, and Aminah Siddiqui of the Army Public School and College for Girls, Rawalpindi, with 1,015 marks.

Sana Arshad of the Punjab College, Islamabad, secured first position with 1,008 marks in Science General group. Saiqa Hafeez of the FG Degree College for Women, Rawalpindi, stood second with 993 marks while Hassan Mahmood of the Federal Government Degree College for Men, Wah Cantt, obtained third position with 991 marks.

In the commerce group, Saba Fatima of the PACE College for Girls secured 951 marks and Mahnoor Latif of Punjab College, Islamabad, stood second with 920 marks. The third position was clinched by Ghulam Mohiuddin of the Indus College of Commerce with 916 marks.

Result cards of regular candidates will be dispatched to their institutions while private candidates will get their result cards at their given addresses through post.

Moreover, 18 cases of unfair means were reported during the exams.
