According to a Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement, the Deputy High Commissioner of India was summoned on Monday and it was emphasised that such “unfortunate incidents were taking place at a time when the leadership on both sides had expressed willingness to improve bilateral relations, which had paved the way for the Foreign Secretary-level talks to resume dialogue”.
This was the 54th incident of ceasefire violation by Indian troops since July this year.

Interesting!! Whenever I see news in Indian newspapers about Pakistani rangers violating ceasefire and firing mortar shells and small arms across the border, I come and check Pakistani newspapers online. On the same day, you will find news about Indian forces firing across the LOC and injuring or killing Pakistani soldiers or civilians. Don;t know which side is saying the truth. But, what is seen is that Pakistani troops do indulge in cover fire for some terrorists who need to cross over with arms and ammunition to Indian side.
@Sid:
"Why would any civilian live close to such a hostile border, where soldiers are highly panicky about any movement along the border."
As long as a Pakistani citizen is on the Pakistani side of the border, it is not India's business to question why or what for he/she is there. You better control your soldiers' panic attacks and give them some training to overcome their psychological issues. Otherwise our soldiers may also start panicking, and then you wouldn't accept this argument.
Why India is indulging in unprovoked firing and killing Pakistani citizens .... Is it to gain control over Pak territory .. ?
This incident needs investigation and not just news reporting. Why would any civilian live close to such a hostile border, where soldiers are highly panicky about any movement along the border. It is government's responsibility to ensure civilian's safety by not allowing them to settle or wander around such a hot border.
You tell them Pakistan!
This probably was the appreciation gesture form the Indian army for the safe return of its soldier by Pakistan Army!
