Special messages: President, PM endorse minority rights

PM says this day is an occasion to recognise the distinguished role played by the minorities in nation building

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussein and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in their separate messages on the August 11 Minorities Day reaffirmed the resolve to bring minorities into the mainstream of life as per the teachings of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah. President Mamnoon Hussain said: “It is an important day in our national calendar when we reaffirm our resolve to the ideals of the Quaid-e-Azam to continue striving for the protection of the rights of all faiths and bring them in the mainstream of national life.” Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said this day is an occasion to recognise the distinguished role played by the minorities in nation building and the sacrifices rendered by them. “The day also renews our commitment to protect their rights and to promote national harmony among various faiths,” he said.

Only useless statements, no concrete steps to protect the minorities and their rights.
