Celebrating august 14: Schools to mark independence with festivities

The students will play tableaus and skits to highlight the sacrifices rendered for independence.

Schools and colleges in the twin cities have planned a number of activities for students to celebrate Independence Day.


Essay writing competitions, declamation contests, singing competitions and other celebratory events will run through the month of August.


An official of the Federal Directorate of Education said the directorate has instructed all government schools and colleges to hold Independence Day events.


He said essay competitions on the independence movement will be part of the month-long activities. The students will play tableaus and skits to highlight the sacrifices rendered for independence.


An Islamabad Model College for Girls F-7/4 lecturer said Independence Day celebrations will start in the college from August 11 and will continue till August 30. A series of programmes has been planned to commemorate the day.


Educational institutes have displayed portraits of leaders of the freedom movement as well.
