Missing wicket-keeper

Letter November 09, 2010
The team manager should resign or the PCB should replace him since he couldn't keep track of players under his watch.

JEDDAH: The 'disappearance' on the day of an ODI match by a member of the Pakistan cricket team has left me flabbergasted. How can the Pakistan Cricket Board and its officials even hope to justify or explain what happened with Zulqarnain Haider? At the very least, the team manager should resign or the PCB should replace him since he couldn't keep track of the players under his watch. According to reports, passports of all players are kept with the team management and Mr Haider was given his after he claimed he needed it to buy a SIM. This seems a bit unbelievable — how could the team management not suspect that perhaps there was another reason that the player was asking for his passport.

A judicial inquiry should be conducted by the government to investigate and ascertain what exactly happened.
