The government had asked the interior ministry to deploy Rangers in Lahore until August 14 and had also sent a letter to the ministry in this regard.
Five companies of Rangers will be posted at important buildings, including Governor House, during this time.
According to Express News correspondent Mian Aslam, the imposition of Article 245 was not required to deploy Rangers personnel in Lahore as they are not part of the army, but are a security organisation under the ministry of interior.
Meanwhile, three police officers were injured in a confrontation between policemen and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) workers in Lahore that took place on Thursday night, Express News reported.
Referring to the clashes between dozens of policemen and hundreds of PAT supporters around the residence of Dr Tahirul Qadri, Provincial Law Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan said that it was the government's responsibility to ensure security in the country.

Mashhood told the media on Friday that the government had obtained footage of the PAT workers that attacked policemen, adding that they had also managed to identify the attackers.
He stated that an FIR will be registered against "these people who took the law in their own hands" for terrorism and attacking police officers.

King Nawaz and Shahbaz Shareef try to save their fort but i think but forget that there is a King ALLAH who is the the King Of All
Rangers?....no...no...nope. Shahbaz's storm troopers. Just like the Nazi's....er...Punjabi nazis?...eewwh!
@Adnan Siddiqi: They are actually as dumb as one feared and listened to even dumber advisers. Now, count down has started, hurry and tell these rats where to hide --- model town or jati umrah or even best right out of our Pakland.
When Allama Dr.Tahir ul Qadri and the PAT workers gave dharna in Rawalpindi , that was peaceful and the same government assured of taking positive steps but then they backed out ..... and then they killed innocent people including girls by storming into their dorms in the middle of the night ....... Highlight the demands made by Dr. sahab that anyone thinks in not in public's benefit and then compare them with the decisions and policies of nawaz government and identify who is right ..... We have slept long and have tried to change the system by giving our votes but the hole just keeps getting deeper and deeper and someone has to stand up to the atrocities otherwise whats the difference b/w palestine, iraq and Pakistan ??? ..... they are deprived of their rights just like us .....
@Malveros:
Malvero means lies in Latin.
Tick, tock, tick, tock.....
@Sara: Ridding the nation of usurpers of power by this gang of bandits under the greedy egomaniacs like Sharifs is a great public service and kicking them anywhere especially 'below their belts' is the best option and if you call it violence then so it be, least people must do to the ModelTown murderers Shahbor an eyeaz & Nawaz is let them taste for a change how it feels when a dear one is killed for no rhyme or any reason. Let them give Hamza and Husain & Hassan for 30 lacs each, how about that? Professor Qadri is right, an eye for an eye and a life for a life is what is just and proper.
Prudent decision and now serious efforts are to be made to thwart any attempt by this con mullah to instigate any form of violence in Lahore. The government should preempt now and forcefully deport him where he came from. If the minions and coattail holding Chaudhries and Tullies raise so much as a whimper, haul their backsides in the dungeons of Fort Balahisar until they are detoxified.
I guess PAT is working on foreign agenda. Strict action should be taken against such PAT workers.
@Ali: Absolute failure. The Military and Para Military forces are meant to guard the borders from external threat, their deployment for internal reason reflect the lack of capabilities, governance, writ or control. And absence of these things indicate the failure. States in 21st century fail when the crusade mentalities get to rule.....
@Sami
I seriously wish that PAT workers raid into your house and take you to the Lahore canal for a dip to make you realize that when chaos happens things go wild. The basic principle for the government is to stop violence by any means and people like you are trying their best to incite violence to take advantage of chaos for personal gains such as theft, killing, robbery etc.
May we call it failure?
Take lesson from Karachi
Once Rangers come , they never leave.
Don't make efforts for political settlement but suppress opponents with force. PMLn you are gang of dictators.
Well done Punjab Govt. No shady characters should be allowed to wreck havoc on democracy.
