McDonald’s Pakistan has stressed that it buys all meat products from internationally accredited and trusted suppliers and they are 100% certified as halal.
In a statement, the international fast food chain denied that it was purchasing any products from Husi Shanghai Factory, which, according to some media reports, had been shut down in China for alleged supply of expired chicken meat and beef.
“Our products are only sourced from Husi Dachang Factory (also known as Beijing factory), which is situated 35km outside Beijing,” it said.
Even in the past, McDonald’s said, the company had never imported any products from Husi Shanghai Factory, which is about 1,300 km from Husi Dachang. “The quality of Dachang Factory has never been questioned and is cleared and approved by HeBei FDA (Food and Drug Administration).”
Pointing to the import documents, the fast food chain said they proved that the meat products were sourced from the Dachang plant, which carried the address “Husi Food Co Ltd, Xiadian Town, No 171, Muslim Business Trade Street, Dachang Hui Autonomy County, HeBei Province, China”.
McDonald’s said halal certificates were displayed prominently in its restaurants and its chicken products also came from Mac Food Malaysia.
“Our customers expect the highest quality from the company and we are dedicated to providing them with that. We always follow the highest food safety practices and demand that all the suppliers do the same.”
McDonald’s said it was proud of its reputation and the longstanding record of committing to the highest standards of quality, food safety and imposing the same level of high standards on all its suppliers.

What a stupid clarification, Export would always be made under the name and address of the HUSI Headoffice in China not indivial factories
Meat imported from China and Malaysia is NOT HALAL! They may be 'labelled' as 100% Halal but a mere labelling does not make it Halal on principle.
Why is it not Halal? Because China and Malaysia allow stunning to be used before slaughter. This practice is not allowed in Islam because contrary to the principle of Halal, it does not fully drain blood from the animal after slaughter. Howww can a product which is prepared from a Stunned animal's meat be called Halal?! Infact, stunning of animals is prohibited in Pakistan, yet sadly, no country other than Pakistan allows import from any country without first physically verifying the production facilities' capability of meeting Halal principles.
What are we being fed?! International food chains must source their ingredients locally where they can actually see and verify.
LETS IGNORE THIS AND TRY TO END A WAR IN ANOTHER COUNTRY.
McDonalds is never a good option to eat. People should watch a documentary Food Inc. to know how the developed world is feeding trash as food.

@Nope: I live and work in China. China DOES allow halal meat production. A lot of meat products come with Halal label and are approved by the regional Islamic association. I personally know Muslims (Chinese) that I meet in the masjid regularly that have big consulting services set up advising, ensuring and auditing that the production (and entire supply chain) is halal. Chinese suppliers supply a lot of meat to countries like Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia so they really want to ensure Halal standards are met.
I dnt know about mcdonalds relatiin with the chinese comoany beef scandle but I watched that story on al Jazeera tv channel abd and its veey much true.
Meat imports by foreign companies operating in Pakistan must be banned to avoid harmone and cloned or chloride treated meat imports from foreign countries can be avoided.

Thanks ET for defending their sister concerns. I have completed my research too, finally we all mutually decided that we will never visit Macdonald. Whatever you wrote in this regards or in favor of Macdonald is definitely biased and not portraying the actual picture.
@Nope: there seems reason to believe that meat in KFC/McDonalds are not halal otherwise they could buy it from a muslim country...why to take risk
Their main rival, chicken company buys chicken from local suppliers. International McDonald corporation's decision to just buy meat from approved suppliers clearly shows that they don't have any checks on quality of their suppliers so "approved supplier only" is just a gimmick.
If McDonald Pakistan is really interested in winning back the trust of customers then it should work with local suppliers whom it can easily monitor and keep a tab on their quality coz seriously my experience with McDonald's haven't been that nice solely because of the imported meat,it simply doesn't taste nice.
@ revelation = Yes, but simultaneously I would like to give credit to tribune for publishing the report and not censuring the discussion, which is a brave move.........
did you know that tribune and mcdonalds are both owned by the same business family in Pakistan.
Dear Management of McDonald Pakistan,
Just a small request, why don't you publish a map showing the factory from where you purchase meat and also the factory being banned. And also if possible/allowed you should also publish contracts/legal papers showing that you purchase meat from the right company.
Until that atleast I am not taking my family to mc donald for anything :)
Why can't we change our heating habits. If you don't like the source then don't eat it. Simple as that! It's McDonals right to purchase meat from their place of preference.
Why dont macdonald get chicken from pakistan or any muslim country why china
It would be appropriate and certainly more ethical for ET to mention that McDonalds' franchisee in Pakistan is an affiliated concern of ET. A simple disclaimer would do. ET's routinely reports on conflicts of interest, so it would've been nice to see them acting above board.
Haha..China doesn't allow production of so-called halal food legally . These are Chinese gov rules . Check http://chinaperspectives.revues.org/819
Should we be worried about the authenticity and orientation of this story as the group that owns Express Media Group also owns and operates McDonald's Pakistan!
@Rumormonger: What? Mcdonalds major sales is of chicken not of beef.
@Jamal: Its McDonald corporation's policy to get meet from only approved suppliers on its list which met all the standards and requirements that McDonalds has set.Pakistan does not have any approved meat suppliers
Why can't MAC get meat locally.?
Okay, so why does McDonalds has to import its meat from China when it can perfectly use meat produced in Pakistan which it can closely monitor for quality assurance.
