Claiming that Imran Khan will not take back his call for long march, Shah said, PTI and PML-N should negotiate and figure out some middle ground.
Shah met with Wali on Wednesday to discuss the prevailing political situation.
Reminding everyone about how the country was under a dictatorship not too long ago, Shah said they do not want an ARD or MRD to be created in the country again.
The leader of the Opposition lamented that the government is not budging from its position while PTI too had opted for politics of confrontation, adding that this was not a time for political point scoring.
We are politicians and it our duty to play the role of mediator, said Shah, adding that he expected to meet with PTI chief Imran Khan on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the ANP chief said that they respect PML-N’s mandate nor would they move to weaken the PTI-led government in K-P either.
Advising PML-N and PTI to be patient, Wali said mediation can only succeed if both parties agree.
We have sacrificed a lot for democracy and will not let anyone derail the democratic set up in the country, the ANP chief said.

@Aam Aadmi:
You are right, the army is not behind anyone. It is The League that is trying to hide behind the army ;)
Any 'Democratic Government' worth their salt would have resigned if 15 innocent citizens were gunned down by the police in a 'democratic country.' And, the victims next of kin cannot even file an FIR. Democracy???
@Hasan Viqar: Imran Khan is himself the most arrogant politician in Pakistan. He has been misfed by Sheikh Rasheed of Rawalpindi that Army is standing behind him. But the professional Army is already occupied in the War on Terror and knows Taliban Khan's stance on NATO supplies and Army Operation in NWA.
Man can be destroy but can not be defeated! as Khurshid shah said pmln and pti should negotiate but dont want to see pti long march actually they know they are not in position to stop them for long march. imran khan can be destroy but can not be defeated because of his strong party. pmln just afraid from pti not from tahir ul qadri. now they all are forcing imran khan for negotiations so the negotiations time is over its time for long march. when pti again and again was asking for his right that time they were not replying them even they interrupted them in (rally). so pmln and all opposition parties should wait for 14 August.
PMLN has been arrogant and ignored Imran Khan since 14 months . Now at the last moment they are begging to have a dialogue! It is too late,
@Marium Faisal:
Mr. Shah's hands are tied. His party's leaders, including he himself, have done so much corruption that they are scared of the cases in courts against them. Amin Fahim, Rental Raja, Doodh Pani Ka Doosra Naam Yousuf Gillani etc all have major corruption cases against them that the PML-N holds up their sleeve, so Mr.Shah and PPP are busy protecting their own backs. Same thing happened when PPP was in power, there were corruption cases against both the Sharif brotharan, Hamza Shahbaz, Petroleum Nisar Khan, Ishaq Dar etc that the PPP used to make sure the PML-N did not destabilize them. Both PML-N and PPP represent the worse of Pakistan. PTI represents the best.
I think they are scared that the army has had enough of the Sharif family mafia, and will make a move soon and they are scared they will need to actually work for a living after the army takes over, as they will not be getting the lavish benefits and corruption money that they are getting now while in parliament. They dont care about democracy because we never have had true democracy in Pakistan. PPP/PML-N/ANP etc all just care about their own pockets.
It is pathetic to hear Shah and Wali Khan and the other PML-N mouth-pieces in the opposition who are trying to do the government's job for them. One thing that is clear here, is exactly what Imran Khan said many years ago - PPP and PML-N are two sides of the same coin. Politicians of both these parties are corrupt and will do anything and everything to keep themselves in power, take musical chairs of the government, and continue to rip of the country in turns. That is why Shah despite being the leader of the opposition, is acting as PML-N's spokesman for the last few weeks! It is absolutely ridiculous! And the democracy the PML-N and PPP are supposedly trying to protect, does NOT exist. You cannot steal a election by rigging it, inserting yourself in power, then claiming you are a democrat and should be allowed to continue in power ! That is like a little kid picking up someone else's toy and saying 'its mine' ! PTI and Imran Khan have really succeeded in exposing the nexus of PML-N and PPP. Sad to see the party of Bhutto be reduced to becoming mouth-pieces of PML-N to ensure their corruption cases do not see the light of day and they get another chance to rip of the country.
