Star crossed: Bound-for-India teen dies of heart failure

Tanveer was scheduled to travel to India for cardiac surgery on Wednesday

Sixteen-year-old Daniyal Tanveer, who was suffering from heart disease, died in Lahore on Monday.


Tanveer was scheduled to leave for India for heart surgery on Wednesday. He was administered polio drops ahead of his travel to India, but later his condition deteriorated.

He was being taken to Shalimar Hospital, when he died on the way.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan had met Tanveer at his home on Sunday and present a Rs100,000 cheque for his treatment.  He had also prayed for his health. A doctor treating Tanveer said that his heart was working at 25 per cent capacity.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has expressed deep sorrow at Tanveer’s death.
