Raining bullets: Gang member killed in encounter

KARACHI: An alleged gang member was killed in the Kalakot area of Lyari during an alleged encounter with the police around 3pm on Sunday. Police officials said that a joint raid was conducted by the police and Rangers in Noorani Colony of Kalakot, Lyari after information was received about the presence of the Lyari gang war commander Naeem Lahoti. Officials also added that the gang members also opened fire at the police and Rangers, and tried to escape under the cover of firing. SSP Shiraz Nazeer said that during the exchange of fire, one gang member was killed who was later identified as Nabeel. SSP Nazeer also said that the killed gang member was associated with the Naeem Lahoti group of Lyari gang, adding that he was wanted by the police in cases of extortion and target killings. The officer also claim to have recovered a hand grenade and a pistol from his possession.
