Media matters: Prestigious fellowship for ex-staffer

Fellowships seek to introduce innovations that improve the way journalists and media use mobile technology

Former staffer of The Express Tribune Rahma Muhammad Mian has been awarded the Knight International Journalism Fellowship, a year-long programme by the International Center for Journalists. The Fellowships seek to introduce innovations that improve the way journalists and media use mobile technology to inform and engage the public. Knight Fellows are experienced media professionals who are selected to lead projects based on their journalism, management and language skills. Rahma is a media development consultant who is creating a citizen-engagement lab in Pakistan to support data-driven media projects and was a member of the teams that launched The Express Tribune and the English-language news channel Express 24/7. Mian also initiated and managed Mind Your Media, a public education and advocacy project on media ethics that is part of the Coalition for Ethical Journalism in Pakistan.
