District Coordination Officer Noorul Amin Mengal said on Thursday that Independence day celebrations would begin in the district from August 1 (today) and continue throughout the month. Talking to reporters at Bagh-i-Jinnah, he said the national flag would be hoisted over major private and public buildings.
“The arrangements have been finalised for celebrations throughout the month of August,” he said.
“A walk, speech and quiz competitions, seminars, painting exhibitions and national songs contests will be held during the month,” he said.
District Coordination Officer said decorative lights would be fixed on public and private buildings and streets and markets would be decorated ahead of August 14.
He said the citizens should participate in the ceremonies.
