ISLAMABAD:

Pakistan’s High Commissioner in India Abdul Basit on Sunday expressed the hope that with the resumption of Pak-India bilateral dialogue, things would move forward in all areas as articulated by the two prime ministers in their meeting in New Delhi on May 27.

At the invitation of Shahi Imam Jamia Masjid Delhi, Syed Ahmed Bukhari, Abdul Basit visited the Shahi Masjid on Saturday and had Iftar there, said a message received from New Delhi on Sunday.

This was the first time that a Pakistani envoy was invited for Iftar at the Jamia Masjid and also addressed the congregation.

Basit underlined the unique spirit of Islam, which was universal and embedded in love, peace and justice for all.

He said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was committed to normalisation of relations between the two countries on the basis of mutual respect and mutual interest.
