Downey’s role in the Iron Man franchise has been kept tightly under wraps ever since speculation first started that he may not be returning for the fourth movie, reports contactmusic.com.
As per reports, Downey does not want to leave Iron Man. However, the final decision is in the hands of Marvel Studio.
“It’s down to Kevin (Feige, Marvel Studios president) and Ike (Perlmutter, CEO of Marvel Entertainment) and Disney to come to us with what the proposal is, and that’s on us to agree or disagree, Downey said. When things are going great, there’s a lot of disagreement,” said Downey in an interview.
The actor, who plays the role of a genius billionaire playboy philanthropist in the franchise, was voted the richest actor in Hollywood by Forbes for the second consecutive year, with estimated earnings of $75 million.
The 49-year-old star made most of his money from June 2013 to June 2014 from Iron Man 3, which made $1.2 billion at the box office and assured him the top spot again in the annual ranking.

Why? I think he is perfect to portray Tony Stark and Iron Man.
No need to even look at the original storyrun in the mag. Look at ur own Chicago tribune

For the past week I have been reading articles that he is suggesting an inclination towards renewing the contract. Its baffling to see what went wrong here
you reproduced the quote wrong here. He said "when things are going great, there's a lot of agreement" NOT disagreement
intact the original interviewee described, his face as lighting up as hr answered the question. And the interview was on set of avengers 2
Robert Downey Jr. Should be in iron man 4 and etc. I know that it takes time it takes to make a movie and people get older I don't know if that's a reason why Robert Downey Jr. might not be in iron man 4. Robert Downey Jr. should also be in the 4th iron man because it's not the same once you've already had someone else play the role, For example James Rhodes in iron man and iron man 2 are different people. Another example is with spider man they got a whole new person to play the role of spider man. If Marval sutidos is thinking or has decided to replace Robert Downey Jr. With some one new at least let him be in a iron man 4 and end the movie really really good and then switch. They should give it a good ending before starting over with someone new. I hope they don't replace him but it's not up to me, and that's just how business work's.
