Nisar was addressing a press conference in Islamabad, where without naming Pakistan Peoples Party, he said the party had called army for assistance on numerous occasions during its tenure.
“The army has been called in for election duty, counterterrorism and security,” Nisar said, adding that the Sindh government has invoked Article 245 multiple times for Muharram security.
Clearly upset with the political uproar, the interior minister stressed that this was not an unusual measure.
“Article 245 is a clause of the constitution; it is not a foreign law being imposed in the country,” he said.
Nisar went on to list democratic countries in the world where armies play a significant role to ensure security.
Explaining what the implementation of Article 245 means for the public, the interior minister said no city would be placed under the army’s control and the military would only assist civil administration to ensure safety of the people and strategic installments.
“It has nothing to do with any rally or political event,” he said referring to PTI's march towards Islamabad on August 14, adding that those calling this a political move are only maligning the army.

If IK is going to do a peaceful protest then he shouldn't be worried about Article 245. Now ain't that the truth.
Ch. Nisar open his mouth again, and once again lies come out. If there was indeed a threat why he had not invoked the article immediately instead of waiting till the August 1st?
PMLN's actions are similar to the actions of Musharraf government in the dying days.
Pray that my Muslim brothers and sisters are able to celebrate Holly Eid congratulations in advance on the occasion of Holly Eid.
“It has nothing to do with any rally or political event,” Who are they kidding, they know it and the nation knows it. What concerns me the most is that they are using the Army to subdue the protest by PTI and others. it could wind up in lots of blood shed, we have already seen their heavy handedness in Model Town Lahore by killing 14 and injuring 80 by police and that was just a small gathering. If any blood shed happens any more, it will be the time to get rid of both brothers who were trained and brought by that despicable dictator Zia. Both of them has dictatorial streaks in them and it comes out when they can't handle the political opposition. Remember, Nawaz Sharif wanted to be Ameer-ul-Momineen, what ever that was.
Karachi needs it more than any other city, but i guess pmln trying to involve army since they're panicking from azadi march.
This is not a democratic mindset, Come on PMLN, face the challenge like a man.
PML(N) government has taken this extra-ordinary step to avoid confrontation and civil war. Failure of Imran and TUQ is a success of Pakistan.
This man will bear the sole responsibility of initiating 2 martial laws. And he thinks he does not know it??
Why the need for justification??? The confused league strikes again!!!
Dictatorial minded bureaucratic styled democratic government of PMLn.
Its not the unusual measure, its the unusual reason for invoking the Article 245.
