Fire fight: Another mastermind of Kamra Base attack killed in encounter

Last Friday, the paramilitary force had claimed to have killed a mastermind of the attack.

Rangers personnel claim to have killed another suspect involved in the attack on Kamra Base. Separately, three alleged target killers belonging to a political party were arrested during raids on Friday. 


The accused was killed in an encounter with the paramilitary force in Macchar Colony near the Docks. According to officials, the law enforcers conducted an intelligence-based raid against the miscreants in Macchar Colony. During the operation, the Rangers personnel faced resistance from the alleged militants, one of whom was killed during the exchange of fire. He was later identified as Noman alias Nomi.

The Rangers spokesperson said that the militant was affiliated with al Qaeda and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He claimed that the deceased was allegedly involved in the Kamra Base attack. Moreover, the alleged militant was also involved in trafficking suicide bombers from North Waziristan and was wanted for other terrorist acts across the country. A sub-machinegun (SMG) and a grenade were also seized from his possession.

A group of heavily armed militants had stormed the Pakistan Air Force's Minhas airbase at Kamra in August 2012, leading to an intense gun battle that had lasted almost five hours. All the attackers were killed.

Last Friday, an alleged mastermind of the attack was killed in an encounter with the paramilitary force in Mauripur's Musharraf Colony. The alleged mastermind, Bilal Khan, was also associated with the TTP and Al-Qaeda.

Separately, an alleged target killer, Kashif alias Cheeta, was arrested during a joint targeted raid by the police, Rangers and intelligence personnel in Korangi.

Rangers spokesperson said that the accused was affiliated with a political party and was involved in a number of cases of target killings as well as other serious crimes. Weapons were also seized from his possession. The suspect was shifted to an undisclosed location for further questioning.

Meanwhile, two more suspects allegedly involved in several cases of targeted killings were arrested during a joint raid by police and Rangers in Bengali Para, Quaidabad. The arrested suspects were identified as Wasi Ahmed Khan and Fakhar alias Irfan. A hand grenade and a pistol were also seized from their possession. Police officials said that the suspects were affiliated of a political party and were involved in over 20 cases of target killing including the killings of law enforcers.
