SHABQADAR:

Six hand grenades and other explosives were found and defused in Shabqadar, Sro Kalay.

An official at Sro Kalay police station, Wilayat Khan, said they were informed on Thursday night about a suspicious first aid bag lying in Altaf Kanta. Police and security forces then reached the site and called the bomb disposal unit to check and defuse the explosives. However, unidentified men attacked the law enforcers at that point, injuring a police officer, Ayaz Khan. Khan was taken to Peshawar where doctors said he is out of danger.

Police started a search operation in the area soon after and found a long range remote-controlled explosive device along with other explosives which were decommissioned by the bomb disposal unit.

Early Thursday morning, extortionists had also attacked the house of a businessman in Noorani village, which shares a border with Peshawar and Mohmand Agency.
